Zelensky reiterates call to create joint European army with at least 3 million personnel amid growing Russian threat
President Volodymyr Zelensky on Jan. 20 reiterated his call for the creation of a joint European armed force of at least 3 million personnel. "Russia plans to have an army of 2 to 2.5 million personnel by 2030.
Troops from several European countries, including France, Germany, Norway and Sweden, are arriving in Greenland after talks between Denmark, Greenland and the U.S. on Wednesday highlighted disagreement.
Last September, all of these nations participated in Arctic Light, a military exercise intended to strengthen the operational readiness of the Danish Armed Forces and NATO in and around Greenland.

Over the past 24 hours, President Donald Trump has appeared to refer to "Greenland" as "Iceland" nearly a half dozen times.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt denied that "Iceland" was part of his speech, even though it is clearly audible.
