A critical Real ID deadline is approaching, and that will mean some travelers without a Real ID will have to pay extra to travel.
Expanded hours will be available at the walk-in REAL ID Supercenter, 191 N. Clark St., as well as at the clerk’s Vital Records Department, 118 N. Clark St., for residents who need to round up the additional documents needed for REAL IDs.
Some state-issued identification cards issued to legal immigrants could be valid longer than the people holding them are allowed to remain in the United States, state officials said.
