Scotland weather RECAP: More heavy snow and icy conditions over weekend as new yellow warning issued
Hundreds of schools remain closed in the north of Scotland for the fifth day as snow and icy conditions continue. Scotland has avoided Storm Goretti but down south a rare red weather warning was issued by the Met Office for “dangerous and stormy” winds in south-west England, with 99mph winds recorded on the Isles of Scilly.
A yellow weather warning for snow and ice will last until noon on Thursday, covering all areas apart from Shetland.
