President Donald Trump reemphasized U.S. control of Greenland at the White House Tuesday, the day before he’ll address global leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Trump announced that starting February, a 10% import tax will be imposed on goods from eight European nations that have rallied around Denmark in the wake of his stepped up calls for the United States to take over the semi-autonomous Danish territory of Greenland.
His remarks to the annual World Economic Forum come as European leaders try to de-escalate tensions with the U.S. over Trump’s plan to acquire Greenland.
